Coca Cola chicken

Pollo a la Coca-Cola
Chicken is one of the most consumed in our culture because of its mild flavor. In addition, the texture of their meat makes that you can cook in many different ways, both grilled, as grilled, barbecue, rice, sauces... As you can see, it goes very well with all kinds of side dishes and sauces, such as salads, honey-mustard, sauces, cheese, onion, cream sauce... One of the ways in which this bird can cook is the Coca Cola chicken. It is a very easy to prepare with a very special sweet touch recipe.

Option 1: the Coca-Cola chicken

Ingredients:

  • Chicken (can use any part of the chicken provided they have approximately the same size so they cook at the same time)
  • 2 onions
  • 1 stock cube
  • Ketchup
  • 1 can of Coca-Cola
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oil

Procedure:

  • Season the chicken and place it in a pan with a little oil and Brown it on both sides over high heat. Book in a bowl separate.
  • Cut the onion into julienne strips and Brown over low heat in the same bucket of chicken. Season with salt and pepper it and mix it. Poached over medium heat.
  • When the onion is more or less soft, add the chopped stock cube, a dash of ketchup (like 2 or 3 tablespoons) and mix well with the onions.
  • Add the chicken which was reserved and cover everything with Coca-Cola. Cook at medium low for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Stir during cooking until sauce is reduced and the chicken is done.

Option 2: Coca Cola with mushroom chicken

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 chicken thighs
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 6 fresh mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup
  • 250 ml of water
  • 150 ml white wine
  • Salt
  • 1 liter of Coca-Cola
  • Oil

Procedure:

  • Remove the thighs skin (if you can split in half) and put to fry in a little oil. Take salt and Brown in the pan over high heat.
  • Once browned, add the wine and water and leave it for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, chop the onion into julienne strips and add it after 5 minutes. Remove and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Chop the garlic and mushrooms into thin slices and add them to the pan.
  • Remove and leave the fire until some of the water has evaporated.
  • Add a splash of ketchup and cover the thighs with Coca-Cola. The foam disappears with cooking. Cover and leave over low heat (but in a way that the liquid is sufficiently hot as for cooked chicken) 30 minutes.

Option 3: chicken stew with Coca Cola

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 12 chicken thighs
  • ½ can of Coca-Cola
  • 1 envelope of onion soup
  • 50 ml of olive oil
  • Salt

Procedure:

  • Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and fry the chicken thighs until browned. Remove from pot and remove half of the remaining oil.
  • Pour Coca-Cola into the pot and add the envelope of onion soup, mixed with a few rods.
  • Add chicken back to the Pan and cook with the pan covered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Well serve hot.
