Cranberries and Apple Slaw

This salad of cabbage and colorful with apples, walnuts and cranberries, is the perfect counterpoint to all the classics of tables for family gatherings. It is crisp and bright, and you can do a day earlier if necessary (non-bluing and letting it sit in the fridge).
If you have, you can put the ingredients in a Turkey sandwich with a touch of mayonnaise and a spoonful of cranberry sauce.
Speaking of nutrition, cabbage and Pecans in this salad, it must be said that they are very nutritious, since they have the properties of fruit, fresh vegetable and dried fruit. We must remember that every day we must eat a raw vegetable, today cabbage.

Salad of cabbage colorful apples, walnuts and dried cranberries



  • Medium green cabbage, sliced
  • Medium red cabbage, cut into thin slices
  • 1 apple crisp unpeeled Granny Smith and Pink Lady, type in thin slices
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup red onion cut into thin slices
  • 1/3 cup of Apple Cider vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


  • Put the green cabbage, red cabbage, Apple, walnuts, cranberries and onion washed and chopped in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Then we make a vinaigrette. In a small bowl, mix the vinegar, olive oil, honey, celery seed and salt. Pour over cabbage and mix well.
  • Cover and cool in the refrigerator until ready to serve.


  • You can add other ingredients or replace them, for example: instead of dried cranberries, you can replace with strawberries or raspberries.
  • Nuts, however, are suitable for the salad, but you can use other nuts, for example, pistachios.
  • The vinaigrette is recommended to be bittersweet touches, that is accompanied with honey. If you want to, and if you have access, you can substitute honey for maple syrup.
  • If you're going to take a long time to serve your salad of cabbage with cranberry and Apple, we recommend that you do not mix with the vinaigrette, and let it separate. At serving time, stir well and serve. In this way, the cabbage will not damage. Wait then to cut the Apple and do so at the last moment, since it can be oxidized.
