The condom remains the best option to prevent AIDS

El preservativo sigue siendo la mejor opción para evitar la enfermedad contra el Sida
Much has been achieved in the study of HIV and it is believed that the development of a vaccine could be next, but currently, prevention, avoiding contagion and following the traditional "recommendations" is still the best strategy to stop the progression of the disease.

Advances in the struggle with AIDS

As in other diseases periodically arise news on a possible vaccine that would cure them. In the case of HIV, the latest news has been that of a little girl born in Mississippi with the human immunodeficiency virus in 2010 and that it was applied a few hours after birth an aggressive anti-retroviral drugs treatment. The result would indicate that after this treatment the girl has cured disease because he spent the last year without receiving medication and no traces of the virus found in his body.
The medical community still sceptical is something, though hopeful, in relation to this study carried out in the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. But, in any case, confirmed that the girl is cured, this would be a breakthrough in the treatment of babies who are born with HIV and only one new way to navigate and reach a vaccine.
In recent years scientists from around the world have made great strides in the understanding of HIV - a disease that particularly affects the African continent-, and many scientists agree that the development of a vaccine would not be far away in time, but until this is a reality we must maintain behaviors that allow us to avoid contagion.
Vacuna contra el HIV

The routes of transmission of HIV are:

1 blood-borne, by sharing syringes or when performing transfusions with infected blood. To prevent this form of contagion is recommended to always use disposable needles and syringes. In addition, all blood that is going to be used in a transfusion must be analyzed to ensure that it is virus-free.
2 - Infected mother can transmit HIV to their child, either during pregnancy, during childbirth (as seems to have been the case of the girl from Mississippi) or through breast milk. Avoid this form of contagion is more complex, so the pregnant woman with HIV requires advice from doctors so you can make the right decisions and do not transmit the disease to her son.
3 - The virus is transmitted by sexual contact with a person infected with HIV. This form of contagion prevention methods are: having sex with a single partner who does not have the disease, practicing sexual abstinence or using condoms that prevent the exchange of fluids during intercourse.
The important thing is that sexual relations are still statistically the main route of transmission of the disease, and the use of condoms has proven to be the most effective way to prevent transmission of the virus in fact.
